Erika Hoffmann-Koenige: My Selection for Atlas Sztuki from the Hoffmann Collection

For the first time in its history, an exhibition from the Hoffmann Collection will be shown outside Germany, and Atlas Sztuki will be its venue. The title—Erika Hoffmann-Koenige: My Selection for Atlas Sztuki from the Hoffmann Collection—speaks for itself, while the names of the artists whose works the collector has selected heighten the sense of this event’s exceptional character. It is a great honour for us to present this project to our audience, for which I sincerely thank Ms Erika Hoffmann-Koenige. I would add that meetings with Erika Hoffmann-Koenige are always extraordinary: Ms Hoffmann-Koenige is not only a lover and connoisseur of art, but also a charismatic personality. 

As usual, we have prepared a catalogue to accompany the exhibition—this time in Polish and German. It contains three very different texts: by Professor Eugen Blume, director of the Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum for Contemporary Art in Berlin; Professor Maria Poprzęcka of the University of Warsaw; and Marta Skłodowska, an art historian and curator at the Museum of the City of Łódź. Rolf Nikel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Poland, who granted the exhibition his honorary patronage, agreed to contribute a few words about this exceptional presentation. The catalogue is completed by my conversation with Erika Hoffmann-Koenige.
