Robert Rabiega: Study of Space

An exhibition of works by Robert Rabiga entitled Space study Completes the third year of the Atlas Sztuki exhibition. We show various areas of contemporary art - presenting both recognized artists and those who are at the beginning of their creative path. After several exhibitions of world-class artists, it was time for another, third, exhibition of an artist working in Łódź.

Robert Rabiega, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, remains outside the mainstream of art with his work. This is undoubtedly a conscious choice of an artist who, in an interesting conversation with Piotr Grobliński, a poet and journalist, emphasizes that an artist, creating, must give up everything that hinders him in everyday life. He says: "when we feel a calling, you should reject everything that distracts us". Janusz K. Głowacki in an insightful text on the work of Robert Rabiga notes that the artist "like classical icon painters works in focus and full concentration, treating painting as a form of meditation - prayer in search of order and the order that governs it". In the modern world, this is an increasingly rare attitude, not only among artists.

Janusz K. Głowacki dedicated his essay to Janina Ładowska, who, despite her serious illness, accepted Atlas Sztuki's invitation to cooperate. She made us all happy with her decision. After all, it is difficult to find a better author of the text on the work of Robert Rabiga than Janina Ładowska, an outstanding art historian, curator of many exhibitions and art expert for years associated with the Museum of Art. When I met her for the last time on March 30, 2006, she was preparing her text. Unfortunately, work on it was interrupted by her untimely death.

Janusz K. Głowacki wrote that "the space of the Atlas Sztuki gallery became a challenge for Robert Rabiga, and at the same time a promise to implement a full artistic expression".
