Bert Danckaert: Simple Present

Bert Danckaert produced the Simple Present project between 2007 and 2013, visiting more than a dozen major cities across four continents. The work of the Belgian photographer, born in Antwerp in 1965, is little known—indeed, practically unknown—in Poland. The artist’s exhibition at Atlas Sztuki is the Polish audience’s first encounter with his work. Bert Danckaert graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in his native city in 1990. He now teaches photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. He also writes extensively about photography, and his texts are regularly published in respected photography journals.
