The Hague Tribunal

The matter is not simple. Although it sounds nice when it is mentioned that one hundred and twenty-three countries recognize the jurisdiction of the Criminal Court in The Hague. Russia stopped by decree issued in 2016. The strong rarely agree to limit their freedom of action. During the vote in Rome in 1998, the establishment of this court was voted against, among others. USA, Israel, China, also Iraq and Iran, Libya and Yemen. At that time, it seemed to be another court prosecuting crimes committed on the far outskirts of Western culture. The Tribunal began operating in 2002, in the era of the "fight against terrorism", still very far from imagining a big war in Europe. At a time when Jean Baudrillard argued that "There was no Gulf War", and we were only watching a series of flashes on the screens, somewhere far above the anonymous desert. Ukraine is not a party to the Roman Convention. It was not until 2014, after the loss of Crimea, that she asked the ICC to conduct an investigation covering its territory. 

There is a lot of place on the world map where ICC jurisdiction does not reach.

Nevertheless, the Tribunal acts as if it wants to be the voice of the average and the weak, a voice that can change a surprisingly large amount in a world that is constantly informed about every event, against the interests of the strong.

I think it's high time to appeal to send personal invitations for Mr. Putin to the address of the Embassy of the Russian Federation at every opportunity, after all, so many interesting events open every week. And every opportunity is good to get to know each other better.
