Art in the City Is Worth Taking an Interest In

There is still a belief that art is an area where what is unique, original, unique most often appears. We hope that as a community we are not lazy enough to expect and demand that our ideals and aspirations be at your fingertips like products on store shelves. We began to follow the culture in our city more carefully many years ago in the Atlas Sztuki gallery, understanding it quite traditionally. As something rather antinomical towards the supermarket. Why around art? Often on the eastern edges of Europe there is a tendency towards fideism, a surplus of living faith that is said to have already melted in the west of the continent... Perhaps this is true, although not necessarily in relation to traditional religions. Indeed, we are still inclined to believe that art - whatever it is - can still be the area from which the shortest path leads into ourselves. Towards what is dark, irrational and unexplained in us. With the confidence of simpletons, we treat art in a heavenly way in our new Atlas. This is not due to the Eastern European retention of one's own mysticism, but rather to the reliable instinct of small merchants who cannot afford to mistake in judging what has true value. Merchants for whom such a mistake is a matter of being or bankruptcy. Łódź is a city that was created in the blink of an eye in the 19th century solely thanks to such an instinct.

You can appear in the city completely anonymously. But I don't think it's on the Street anymore. Especially if it is the legendary Włókiennicza Street. Just like you can't appear completely anonymously in culture. The cult of individuality, which has been growing since at least the end of the Middle Ages, means that the meaning of participating in culture is to mark your personality, your rights to it, and accentuate your uniqueness. Therefore, cities built around culture (art) seem to be a good idea to merge the desire for individualization with the principle of responsibility towards others. This connection can be the foundation of the European city that Łódź wants to be.
