Stanisław Fijałkowski

Stanisław Fijałkowski is one of the most outstanding Polish contemporary artists, painter and graphic artist, doctor Honoris causa Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, with which he was associated from his studies to retirement, winner of many prestigious awards. In addition, an extremely cheerful and kind man. The artist, despite reaching the age of 87, is still working, he is a modern man - he efficiently uses a computer, sends e-mails, always answers a calling mobile phone. While preparing an exhibition in Atlas Sztuki, we met many times in the studio of a professor who made himself known to us as a versatile, very hardworking and real man Pictor doctus. His works are in renowned collections in the country and abroad. It is with great pleasure and pride that we present his work. 

Professor Maria Poprzęcka wrote in a letter to me that "she was always moved by Stanisław Fijałkowski's effort to translate both of Wasyl Kandyński's books". For this reason, she took up this thread, previously uncommented in Fijałkowski's work - in this way an interesting text showing the artist's great erudition was created. I encourage you to read the text by Janusz K. Głowacki, who beautifully characterized the professor's work. I also recommend Krzysztof Cichon and Andrzej Walczak's conversation with Stanisław Fijałkowski. Among other things, the professor mentions his acquaintance with Kobro, Strzemiński or Henryk Stażewski.

Professor Stanisław Fijałkowski's exhibition at Atlas Sztuki was conceived as a retrospective of his painting. 
In two exhibition halls, we will present over fifty paintings made in different techniques and different periods of creativity. They come from the artist's own collection, eleven Polish museums and two domestic private collections. I would like to thank all the owners of the works that were lent for the exhibition for their help.
