Jörg Immendorff | Markus Lüpertz

Jacek Michalak

For years, the work of both artists has been presented in the world’s most renowned galleries and museums. Their achievements remain little known in Poland, however, and their works have so far been shown here only occasionally.

The presentation at Atlas Sztuki was prepared in collaboration with Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, which holds an extensive collection of works by both artists. The selection for the first joint Polish exhibition of Immendorff and Lüpertz was made together with Ingrid Mössinger, director of Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz.

Marta Skłodowska, author of the essay accompanying the exhibition, is likewise in no doubt that an encounter with the art of these two figures will be of interest. She points out that the artists ‘not only belonged to the generation that shaped the trends prevailing in contemporary painting for a long time’, but also ‘were able, through their explorations, to give it new energy’.

It is my pleasure to invite you to see the exhibition of Jörg Immendorff and Markus Lüpertz at Atlas Sztuki.
