Charisma Cannot Be Conveyed through the Media. It Can Only Be Passed on in Person, and Only to a Chosen Few
The mystery is not transmitted. The beginning of the biblical tradition of anointing the future ruler by the prophet can be found in the sixteenth chapter of the Book of Samuel (1Sam 16). Two verses are key: the seventh and thirteenth. In the seventh, the prism of the invisible and inconceivable is established, in the thirteenth, such an order acquires the dimension of durability.
The curtain set up by the guards turned the chancel of Westminster Cathedral into an inaccessible sancta sanctorum at the time of the anointing with oil stored in an eagle-shaped ampulle since the coronation of Charles II in 1661. However, the spectacle of receiving a royal sacred is built not only from covering the climax moment, but above all from the number of young faces around.
The Middle Eastern anointing ritual of the ruler unknown in Roman culture returned to Europe quite unexpectedly during the second coronation of Pepin the Short by Pope Stephen II on January 6, 754 in the Basilica of Saint Denis. Thanks to this, doubts lasted less whether the power of the Carolingians dethroning the Merovingians was fully legal.
In the painting from the synagogue in Dura Europos (Syria) from the middle of the 3rd century AD, you can see the moment presented in the style of Roman polychromes the moment of the anointing by the prophet Samuel of the youngest of the sons of Jesse: the red David. You can also see the universal power of the incomprehensible ritual, the watchful eyes of the other brothers.
Today, this symbolism is completely erased. The coming days will be marked by the yawning Prince Louis. You have to go with the spirit of the times, the new king is said to be very progressive.
