The Belly of Atlas

Jacek Michalak

In The Belly of Atlas, Józef Robakowski will present works by more than thirty artists in the darkened exhibition space of Atlas Sztuki. Most were made independently of the exhibition and many come from the collection of the Exchange Gallery, although there will also be works created especially for the occasion, including one that Grzegorz Drozd will produce together with inmates of a prison in Łódź. To see the display, visitors will have to move through it with a torch in hand.
The exhibition catalogue includes two essays, by Professor Grzegorz Dziamski and Stach Szabłowski, as well as Ewa Gorządek’s conversation with the artist. Each author responds in a distinct and engaging way to Józef Robakowski’s idea of presenting a particular set of curiosities in Polish contemporary art. I warmly encourage you to read the catalogue.
I cordially invite you to visit Atlas Sztuki and discover for yourself this exceptional exhibition prepared by Professor Józef Robakowski.
