The Curious Thing Is That No One Predicts Judges Are a Profession at Serious Risk of Redundancy because of the High Cost of Their Work.
Even the mass use of GTP chats will not help them to write justifications more efficiently. The excitement of the dexterity of the image-producing AI exposes the layer of language proficiency in human communication. As long as the topic of attention is "artificial intelligence", the problem will not exist. It will appear when instead of ex-machine intelligence we start talking about machine imagination. And "real" troubles will get our sense of the coherence and sense of the social world when someone starts to talk about "artificial conscience" and its obvious (based on statistics) advantages over the human conscience, very unreliable and imperfect. Then you can slowly paint on the horizon in large holographic letters the verse from Dante, the most famous one: "Lasciate fires...", the first machine from the shore will accurately finish.
The production of images, of course, involves what we call intelligence, but to a much greater extent, also those human cognitive abilities that we attribute to imagination (both Phantasia How Eikasia). Of course, we know the least about the functioning of conscience. The religious perspective treats them as a strange instance of the human psyche, similar to the transcendental Absolute. The slightly superstitious respect for the law made and written in Western culture partly results from the unrecognized status of conscience. We cannot imagine the idea of universal justice without an individual conscience, which unforcedly confirms the existence of such an idea. It has never been possible in the history of Western thought to develop a unified view on the essence of conscience. Henry of Ghent was convinced that it was a power connected with will, desire and action, but separate from the cognitive abilities of man. Saint Bonaventure believed that Synderesis (I.e. power – Habitus - stimulating to act) is part of the cognitive power: Conscientia. Finally, St. Thomas, inclined to emphasize intellectualism at the expense of voluntarism as more fundamental, recognized the efficiency of the first principles of cognition (Intellectus principiorum), and only in relation to them the efficiency of the first rules of conduct (Synderesis). All this will lose its meaning when the common idea of an "artificial conscience" appears (AC, Artificial conscience).
